Journey through the Kakhetian circle
The route of this tour is circular, which will cover in one day all the places without which it is impossible to imagine the region. Your trip will be decorated with beautiful hilly landscapes of the Alazani Valley and you will learn – about traditions, the history of holy places and of course wine.
Program:
Ujarma Fortress, founded in the 3-4th century. Here stood the whole city, the former capital of Iberia, where the Georgian kings of the 11th century kept the treasury and where St. Nino erected one of the three crosses.
Shuamt Monastery Complex in the Telavi Forest: you will see one of the oldest basilicas in Georgia and get acquainted with the tranquility of this place.
The city of Telavi, the capital of Kakheti, which had its role on the caravan route from the Middle East to Europe. In the center of Telavi is the fortress “Batonis cihe”. In this city you will see a 900-year-old plane tree.
Chavchavadze Manor Museum in Tsinandali, where in the shade of trees you will hear about the ancient princely family, the Europeanization of Georgia and how the manor became the residence of the Romanovs.
The beautiful and elegant Signahi, who was nicknamed the “city of love”. You will be told why, while you walk through the cozy streets and admire the beauty. You will also ascend and walk along the longest fortress wall of Georgia!
Bodbe Monastery, where the holy co-apostle Nino rests, deeply revered by Georgians and beyond. Of course, you will hear the story of St. Nina and her biography.
Well, what a trip to Georgia without national cuisine! And in Kakheti – without guilt. You will dine in the best restaurant in Telavi, and at the winery you will learn about the peculiarities of Georgian winemaking and taste the drink-symbol of the country.
